Fahmi expresses disappointment over Muda splitting votes


KUALA LUMPUR: Pakatan Harapan communications director Fahmi Fadzil (pic) expressed disappointment over the split in votes due to Muda contesting solo, which in turn had costs the unity pact some seats with a slim majority.

"I have to look at the numbers first. I think there was one seat which was super close, Sungai Kandis, if I am not mistaken,” said the Communications and Digital Minister.

"I am saddened that this split allowed Perikatan Nasional to win a seat, but I am not prepared to make more comments on that for the moment,” he told reporters at the World Trade Centre (WTC) after the state polls results announcement on Saturday (Aug 12).

He also added that a post-mortem will be held on the elections results in the six states.

Perikatan candidate Wan Dzahanurin Ahmad won the Sungai Kandis seat with a majority of 167 votes over Pakatan’s Zawawi Mughni.

Wan Dzahanurin secured 28,926 votes, in the three-cornered fight which saw Muda candidate Afriena Shaqira of Muda securing 1,341 votes.
