GEORGE TOWN: Chinese companies are welcome to expand their investments in Malaysia and the country is ready to deepen its cooperation with China in various fields to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results, says the Prime Minister.
Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said this during a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who is on an official visit to Malaysia, on Friday.
Recalling his successful visit to China in March this year, Anwar said China was a reliable and good friend of Malaysia. He also said both countries enjoyed a special and friendly relationship with robust bilateral cooperation.
The two sides, he said, had actively implemented the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and made significant progress in their cooperation on the economy, trade, investment, culture and tourism.
Calling Anwar an old friend of the Chinese people, Wang said the leaders of the two countries had established solid mutual trust and friendship and pointed out the direction for jointly building a China-Malaysia community with a shared future.
“China is ready to work with Malaysia to maintain the sound and strong development momentum of bilateral relations, bring more benefits to the people in the two countries, and make new contributions to regional development and revitalisation,” he said.
China and Malaysia, he added, were both emerging markets and developing countries with similar development concepts and broad common interests, citing the high-quality Belt and Road cooperation between the two countries as having yielded fruitful results.
He said the Belt and Road projects in Malaysia, such as the East Coast Rail Link and the “Two Countries, Twin Parks”, had achieved good economic and social effects and showed prospects for practical cooperation.
China, said Wang, was willing to share with Malaysia the mega market opportunities and expand on cooperation fields so as to achieve mutual benefit, win-win results and common development. — Bernama-Xinhua
