State polls: Mother of six wins Taman Templer seat with 467-vote majority


RAWANG: Mother-of-six Anfaal Saari (PH-Amanah) won the Taman Templer state seat in Selangor with a majority of 467 votes.

The 44-year-old first-time candidate garnered 22,247 votes, defeating former state exco member Zaidy Abdul Talib (PN-PAS) who received 21,780 votes while Muda's Aida Rahman received 765 votes.

Anfaal is the daughter of former Hulu Kelang assemblyman Saari Sungib, who was present at the Selayang Municipal Council lobby when she was declared the winner.

In the 14th General Election, Pakatan’s Mohd Sani Hamzan won with a majority of 7,903 votes.

The Rawang seat saw Pakatan leading from the start with PKR's 44-year-old Chua Wei Kiat retaining the seat with a majority of 25,658 votes.

He received 39, 168 votes compared to Perikatan's R. Rejean Kumar's 13,510.

In GE14, Chua won the seat with a 23,860-vote majority.

As for Kuang, the 48-year-old Bersatu candidate Mohd Rafiq Abdullah emerged the winner with 18,494 votes while Barisan Nasional's 53-year-old Datuk Hasnal Rezua Merican garnered 13,619 votes and former Kuang assemblyman Salleh Amiruddin received 1,287 votes.

In GE14, Salleh won the Kuang seat with 9,845 votes.
