State polls: New Kelantan MB to be sworn in on Aug 15

KOTA BARU: The new Kelantan mentri besar is expected to be sworn in this Tuesday (Aug 15).

PAS Kelantan state chief Datuk Ahmad Yakob said the name of the MB candidate would be discussed by the party leadership soon.

"We will discuss the new MB candidate either tonight (Aug 12) or tomorrow. God willing, the swearing-in ceremony will be held on Tuesday," he said during a media conference at Medan Ilmu Tok Guru here on Saturday (Aug 12).

Previously, Kelantan PAS said it would submit three names to party president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang for the latter to choose to be the next MB.

This is following an announcement by PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan on Friday (Aug 11) who said Ahmad Yakob and Datuk Mohd Amar Abdullah would be replaced as MB and deputy MB respectively.

According to Ahmad Yakob, the MB selection would be decided by Abdul Hadi before the name was presented to the Sultan of Kelantan.
