Elephant tramples woman to death

IPOH: An Orang Asli woman was trampled to death by an elephant at a durian farm in Kampung Bal in RPS Kemar, Gerik.

Gerik OCPD Supt Zulkifli Mahmood said the 63-year-old woman had gone to the farm to pick some durians before the incident occurred on Sunday between 4pm and 5pm.

“We received a report of the incident at about 5.30pm.

“She was brought to the RPS Kemar health clinic where she was pronounced dead,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Supt Zulkifli said a post-mortem confirmed that the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the chest.

“The victim’s family has claimed the body and she has been laid to rest,” he said.

Supt Zulkifli said the community at RPS Kemar were advised to be vigilant when carrying out agriculture activities there.
