Teen beaten up by seven others over a girl in JB

JOHOR BARU: A 15-year-old boy was kicked, punched and stomped by a group of students in Taman Bestari Indah here, allegedly over a girl.

Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat said the victim reported the incident at around 4pm on Monday (Aug 14) saying that he was attacked by seven boys, leading to injuries on his arms, thighs, abdomen and pain throughout his body.

He said the bullying took place at around 3pm last Wednesday (Aug 9).

“After receiving the police report, we arrested seven teenage boys, including a foreign national, at different locations in Johor Baru between 5.30pm and 9.34pm on the same day.

“The group of boys was believed to have attacked the victim over a girl.

“The main suspect, a 15-year-old, was said to be upset that the victim became friends with his girlfriend and that led to the incident,” he said when contacted on Tuesday (Aug 15).

He added that all seven suspects, aged 14 to 17, and the victim were all school students.

The seven suspects would be brought to the Johor Baru Magistrate’s Court to obtain a remand order under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code for them to be investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting without weapons, he added.

ACP Raub also said that a 59-second video clip of the incident made sounds on social media.

In the video, the victim was seen flung to the ground by several boys, who proceeded to kick, punch and stomp him while others were heard laughing loudly in the background.

They were also heard talking about an “awek” (slang for girl) while taking turns attacking the victim.

ACP Raub urged those with information related to the incident to assist the police by calling the Johor Baru South police headquarters hotline at 07-2182 323.
