RAPPER and composer Altimet (pic) is finding it uncomfortable being called Yang Berhormat or YB after winning the Lembah Jaya state seat in Saturday’s polls, reported Harian Metro.
Altimet, whose real name is Syed Ahmad Syed Abdul Rahman Alhadad, won the seat in Selangor by defeating Sharifah Haslizah Syed Ariffin from Perikatan Nasional.
“I am still not comfortable being called YB. But thank you for all the support given,” said the 45-year-old.
“As a community worker, I will always strive to give my best and ensure my constituents’ welfare are taken care of.”
On his career as a singer, Altimet said that part of his life was over in 2019. “In the face of cynical views from the community on celebrities, it was time for me to prove otherwise with the work I will carry out.”
> Sinar Harian reported that some residents in Temerloh, Pahang, had been searching for historical items along the dried up river banks of Sungai Pahang.
Hairulddin Mohd Salleh, 65, had been using metal detectors with the help of his friend, Abdul Jamal Mohamed, 56, to search for the items along the river here.
“We have only found nothing of value yet. If there is more capital, I would buy a better metal detector.
“It costs thousands of ringgit. Currently, the equipment we have can only detect depths of up to 30m,” he said, claiming that some people from Teluk Ira had found old currency on the sandbar.
“Historical records have shown that Sungai Pahang used to be one of the main trade routes. It is possible there were valuable goods on this route,” he said.
