DPM Fadillah heads Sarawak 60th anniversary honours list

KUCHING: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof heads a list of 77 recipients of medals awarded in conjunction with Sarawak's 60th independence anniversary celebration.

Fadillah was one of 43 recipients of the Pingat Peringatan Cemerlang Jubli Intan (Gold) at the investiture ceremony graced by Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg here on Wednesday (Aug 16).

Others conferred the same medal included former Armed Forces chief Gen (Rtd) Tun Mohamed Hashim Mohd Ali, Dewan Negara president Tan Sri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang and national diver Datuk Pandelela Rinong.

A further 34 individuals were conferred the Pingat Peringatan Cemerlang Jubli Intan (Silver).

Among them were Sarawak police commissioner Comm Datuk Mohd Azman Ahmad Sapri, Kuching South City Council mayor Datuk Wee Hong Song and Kuching North City Hall mayor Datuk Junaidi Reduan.

Other recipients included Anglican Bishop of Kuching Datuk Danald Jute, Iban singer Andrewson Ngalai and national hammer thrower Grace Wong Xiu Mei.

The Jubli Intan medals were awarded to the recipients for their contribution and excellent service towards Sarawak's development.

The first batch of 51 recipients had received their medals during the Sarawak Day celebration on July 22.
