KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Airlines, a subsidiary of the Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), has announced a limited-time offer of up to 40% off on airfares to select domestic and international destinations in conjunction with the upcoming MATTA Fair.
The promotion will be available from Aug 31 to Sept 9 at the MATTA Fair and on the airline's online platforms. The travel period for these discounted fares is set between Aug 31, 2023, and March 31, 2024.
Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) chief commercial officer of airlines Dersenish Aresandiran said Firefly will offer a 40% discount on international and domestic travel.
"Malaysian Airlines will be provided with a 35% discount in terms of international and domestic.
"MASwings will be giving about a 20% discount on all air flights. Regarding add-ons, Malaysia Airlines will also offer a 25% discount on all ancillaries for seat selection, lounge, baggage, and other items," he said during the press conference on Wednesday (Aug 16), adding that Enrich members, Malaysia Airlines' travel and lifestyle loyalty programme, will benefit from earning 50% Bonus Enrich Points during the promotional period.
He said the MATTA Fair buyers' contest will allow customers to win 37 return tickets, including Business Class tickets, to popular destinations like London and Sydney.
Furthermore, Malaysia Airlines focuses on airfare sales and offers other attractive deals through partnerships with MHholidays and Journify, encompassing holiday packages and unique travel experiences.
Dersenish expressed optimism about the airline's growth trajectory, citing a revival of travel demand.
"We see travel is booming. The market is coming back. China and the North Asian market have also relatively opened up again. We have gone up to about 90% of pre-pandemic levels.
"We expect by year-end, we'll be about 92%. So we're looking at the balance to come up by early 2024 to get back to pre-pandemic levels," he added.
MATTA president Nigel Wong revealed ambitious goals for the upcoming MATTA Fair, scheduled from Sept 1 to 3 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC).
"We are targeting about 200,000 visitors and looking at about RM350mil in sales, with RM70mil targeted for domestic sales.
"Additionally, we will be hosting a one-day career fair to promote tourism-related career opportunities this year," he said.
Wong said MATTA welcomed MAG, a group comprising Malaysia Airlines, Firefly and MASwings, as the official airlines for the travel fair.
"We are delighted to join forces again with the MAG airlines for the upcoming MATTA Fair. Their participation not only adds significant value to the fair but also underscores our commitment to meet the evolving demands of our valued consumers," he said.
The three-day fair will be open from 10 am to 9 pm and offers free admission. MATTA also provides free shuttle services from KL Sentral and Sunway Putra Mall to MITEC, encouraging visitors to take full advantage of these convenient transportation options.
Also present were MATTA Fair organising committee chairman Rocky Kho and Airlines Global Sales head Syazwan Ahmad Sabri.
