JOHOR BARU: Action will be taken against missing guests, including having their Datukship revoked, if they do not turn up at the annual Hari Hol to commemorate Almarhum Sultan Iskandar Ibni Almarhum Sultan Ismail.
Johor Council of Royal Court president Datuk Dr Rahim Ramli said invitation cards had been distributed in accordance with the decree from Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar.
"Please pay attention, those who have been invited must attend. Invitation from the palace is a decree from His Majesty and should be upheld.
"Sultan Ibrahim will revoke and cancel awards given to Johor Datukship recipients who do not attend the two ceremonies," he said in a statement posted on Sultan Ibrahim’s official Facebook page on Thursday (Aug 17).
Rahim added that the ceremony would begin with a tahlil, which would be held at Masjid Sultan Abu Bakar on Aug 22 starting at 5.30pm, and a visit to the royal mausoleum at 8am on Aug 23.
He also said the attire during tahlil for men was white baju Melayu Teluk Belanga with a black sampin berdagang luar, black songkok, black socks and black shoes.
Rahim said for women, the attire was white baju kurung Teluk Belanga with sewn batik sarong and a white headscarf.
He added for those attending the ceremony at the royal mausoleum, their attire should be black baju Melayu Teluk Belanga with black sampin berdagang luar, black songkok, black socks and black shoes.
"All attendance will be recorded and action would be taken against those who are absent without (good) reason.
"The ceremony is to pray for the souls of previous Johor Sultans who have passed away. Their presence proves their loyalty towards the Johor Sultanate institution," he said.
Hari Hol – a day to observe the death of Sultan Iskandar – is a state public holiday in Johor.
