Elmina plane crash: Aid to be given to next-of-kin, says PM


KLANG: Assistance will be given to the next-of-kin of the plane crash victims, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

He said this includes managing the remains of the victims.

Anwar said this when met by reporters at Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) here.

He had visited the family and relatives of the victims. They were waiting for the post-mortem and identification process at the hospital’s forensics department here on Friday (Aug 18).

Also present were Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa, Selangor caretaker Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari and Pahang Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Roshdy Wan Ismail.

Yesterday (Aug 17), 10 people were killed after the Beechcraft Model 390 (Premier 1) plane crashed on the Guthrie Highway at the Elmina Township around 2.50pm.

The victims were two flight crew members and six passengers, including Pahang local government, housing, environment and green technology committee chairman Datuk Seri Johari Harun.

Two road users were also killed on impact.
