SHAH ALAM: The search for aircraft debris and human remains is almost complete at the scene at the Elmina Township here, say the police.

Ten people, including two crew members and six passengers as well as two road users, died after a plane crashed along Persiaran Elmina on Thursday (Aug 17).

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said they were in the midst of a final search at the scene to look for any human remains that were not collected yesterday.

"We have found one complete body, nine human remains as well as five severed body parts so far.

"Personnel have also collected 21 personal belongings of the victims," he told reporters at the scene on Friday (Aug 18).

He said the body and human remains have been sent for

post-mortem at the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang.

"We have collected DNA samples from 22 next-of-kin of the victims in order to identify the remains.

"The body and human remains will be handed over to the family members for burial once the post-mortem is completed," he said, adding that the DNA samples would ascertain the exact number of victims involved in the incident.

Razarudin said they were searching an 11,000sq metre area for aircraft debris and human remains.

He said in terms of the search for the aircraft black box, it was completed.

"We have been told that this aircraft was only equipped with a cockpit voice recorder (CVR) which was found at around 10pm yesterday.

"The CVR was found at the main wreckage of the aircraft," he said.
