SHAH ALAM: Bukit Aman has urged the public to refrain from spreading videos of the plane crash that killed 10 people at the Elmina Township here.

Its CID director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said the victims' families were traumatised by the incident.

"We must respect the families and understand that this is a difficult time for them.

"Those with footage of the incident should come forward and pass it to the police instead of sharing it on social media," he told reporters at the scene on Friday (Aug 18).

Separately, Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said several witnesses have been identified.

"Some of them are living in the area. They have been called in to have their statements recorded," he said.

It was reported that those sharing photos or videos involving victims of the Elmina plane tragedy may face legal action.

The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission cautioned that those sharing any form of content involving the victims or related parties might face legal action under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

The regulatory body also reminded the public to show empathy and respect to the victims' families.

Dashcam footage has emerged of the plane crash that claimed the lives of 10 people.

One 19-second video taken from the rear camera of an unknown vehicle had been circulated on social media and WhatsApp.

Four seconds into the video, the Beechcraft 390 aircraft can be seen in the left side upper corner of the clip.

It hits the ground at a high speed before bursting into a huge fireball.

The fireball nearly engulfs the vehicle with the camera.

The time stamp on the video shows the incident was recorded at 2.42pm Thursday (Aug 17).

Another 20-second video from a front camera shows the incident from another angle.

A huge fireball explodes and debris can be seen flying all over the road.
