IPOH: Komander (Rtd) Shaharul Amir Omar, one of the Elmina plane crash victims, had taken a lot of selfies while in the aircraft before the tragedy, says his youngest sister.
Norsyahirah Omar, 29, said it was something her late 49-year-old brother rarely does.
"He has never shared so many of his selfies before in our family WhatsApp chat group.
"He normally sends photographs of the places he visits," she told reporters when met at his home in Desa Manjung Raya in Manjung here.
"Maybe he knew his time was coming to an end," she added.
Ten people were killed after the Beechcraft Model 390 (Premier 1) plane crashed on the Guthrie Highway at about 2.50pm on Thursday (Aug 17).
Two flight crew members and six passengers - including Pahang local government, housing, environment and green technology committee chairman Datuk Seri Johari Harun - were killed in the tragedy.
A motorist and a motorcyclist, who were passing by the area, were also killed on impact.
Norsyahirah, from Kedah, said their family only got to know about his death at about 4.30pm on Thursday.
"We learned about the incident earlier from Facebook.
"Our mother, who last spoke to him between 7am and 8am, tried calling him but it went unanswered," she said.
"He had told our mother earlier about flying to Subang from Langkawi.
"We tried to get more information and scoured various social media platforms for it," she added.
Norsyahirah said Shaharul Amir, who works for Johari, had informed the family chat group that his boss was giving them a treat on the flight to Langkawi.
"He pilots a helicopter and will fly the Pahang state exco member whenever his services are needed," she said, adding that Shaharul Amir had worked for Johari for about two years.
She said the family has yet to decide on where to bury Shaharul Amir, a father of four.
"It is still pending on the postmortem.
"He could be buried here or in Klang,” she said, adding that three of their siblings are at Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang now.
