On Thursday (Aug 17) Johari was one of eight people on board a light aircraft who were killed after the plane crashed near the Elmina Township in Selangor.

The incident occurred at about 2.40pm after the aircraft, which took off from Langkawi, was cleared to land at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang.

It crashed into Persiaran Elmina after losing communication with the control tower.

Speaking to reporters after the funeral, Muhammad Hafiz Naqiuddin said that he cherished all 22 years he had to spend with his father.

"All of my years with him were 'moments'. The good and the bad. All I can ask for is for all Malaysians to pray for my late father," he said.

He added that his father was a man who was easily approchable and valued charity.

Meanwhile, former prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that he had lost a good friend.

"The country has lost a great leader. Datuk Johari and I were good friends and the last time we met was last month. On a personal level he has a polite demeanour and has never raised his voice while speaking. I actually had plans to go to Langkawi yesterday (Saturday) and we were supposed to have coffee and catch up there.
