Plane crash: Capt Shahrul laid to rest in Kampung Klang Gate Islamic cemetery


HULU KELANG: The body of the late Captain Shahrul Kamal Roslan, or Adek as he is fondly known, has been buried.

The body arrived at his home in Wangsa Melawati, Kuala Lumpur at 1.30pm and then brought to the Klang Gate Mosque, where the solat jenazah took place after Zohor prayers.

Shahrul was laid to rest at the Kampung Klang Gate Islamic cemetery, here in Hulu Kelang on Sunday (Aug 20) at about 2.30pm.

The funeral for the jovial and happy-go-lucky pilot, was carried out smoothly surrounded by family and friends.

Many who came braved the rain to pay their last respects to him.

Hulu Kelang assemblyman Datuk Seri Azmin Ali was also present at the funeral to pay his respect towards his constituent.

His peers had described him as an experienced pilot who worked for commercial airlines such as AirAsia, Malaysia Airlines and Etihad Airways.

He was also affectionately known as 'Chomel' and had previously flown as a first officer.

Shahrul leaves behind a widow and four sons aged between three- and 12-years-old.

On Thursday (Aug 17), Shahrul was one of eight people on board a light aircraft who were killed after the plane crashed near the Elmina Township in Selangor.

An e-hailing driver and a food delivery rider on the road were also killed when the plane crashed.

The other victims were identified as pilot Heikal Aras Abdul Azim; passengers Pelangai assemblyman and Pahang exco member Datuk Seri Johari Harun, Kharil Azwan Jamaludin, Shaharul Amir Omar, Mohamad Naim Fawwaz Mohamed Muaidi, Muhammad Taufiq Mohd Zaki and Idris Abdol Talib @ Ramali.
