SUNGAI PETANI: He was just riding his motorcycle like any other food delivery rider on a normal day on an ordinary highway when a plane crashed metres from him.
He died in a split second, and the family of parcel-hailing rider Muhamad Hafiz Muhamad Salleh pleads with the public to stop spreading videos of the incident.
His sister, Noorhidayah Muhamad Salleh, 30, said as a sign of respect to the family, the public should stop spreading the videos on social media.
“I would like to ask Malaysians who spread the videos of my brother to stop sharing them.
“We didn’t know that he was going to die in such a way, and I hope the public can be sensitive,” she told reporters after the funeral of her brother at Kampung Jerong Muslim Cemetery yesterday.
Noorhidayah said the family was still in shock at the way Muhamad Hafiz died and hoped Malaysians could respect his passing.
Noorhidayah, who is scheduled to be married this Friday, expressed the family’s gratitude to all who offered condolences and prayers.
She was grateful that the funeral of her brother went smoothly, and she complimented the professionalism of the police and all other authorities involved.
Noorhidayah referred to her brother as a person who was well-liked by everyone and kind to all of his siblings.
She said that the last time she saw her brother was during Hari Raya Haji and it was the longest holiday he took.
“He planned to come back on Sunday as my wedding ceremony was planned for this Friday, but Allah loves him more; I accept what Allah has written for him,” she added.
Earlier, the remains of Muhamad Hafiz arrived at Masjid Al Huda here at about 3pm with police escorts.
Accompanying the hearse was his parent and family members, who were inconsolable.
Muhamad Hafiz’s cousin, Muhammad Akmal Zakaria, 33, led the hundreds of mourners in the funeral prayers before the remains were taken to the cemetery for burial.
Present during the funeral were Deputy Finance Minister Steven Sim, Bukit Selambau assemblyman Azizan Hamzah and Sidam assemblyman Bau Wong Bau Ek.
