PETALING JAYA: Sabah MCA has been playing an integral role in ensuring development in the state and protecting the interests of its rakyat, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.
The party president said that the MCA state chapter will continue to do so with support from its central party and committee.
"Sabah MCA has a history of 32 years in the state and it has always played a role in both nation building and the development of Sabah, particularly in protecting the interests of the people of Sabah," said Dr Wee.
He said that Sabah MCA has strong support from the party's central leadership and will continue to strengthen its efforts to protect the interests of Sabah and its people.
"Appreciation goes to Sabah MCA Chairman Lu Yen Tung and the Sabah leaders for carrying out their responsibilities and being fully committed in the past five years," added Dr Wee in a Facebook post on Sunday (Aug 20).
Dr Wee also said that MCA had played an important role in achieving independence alongside Umno and MIC — components of Barisan Nasional.
He was in the state to attend the Sabah MCA State Convention 2023, where over 400 party members also participated in Kota Kinabalu this morning.
Also present were deputy president Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon, secretary-general Datuk Chong Sin Woon, among other MCA leaders.
