Cops nab three men for drink driving in Ampang


AMPANG: Police here have detained three men for driving while under the influence of alcohol following an operation at Jalan Pandan Utama here on Saturday (Aug 19).

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Azam Ismail said those detained were aged 41, 56 and 69, adding that they had blood alcohol levels that surpassed the permitted limit.

"They were brought to the Ampang Jaya Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division's headquarters. A test using the Evidential Breath Analyzer II (EBA II) showed their blood alcohol levels were beyond the permitted limit," he said in a statement on Monday (Aug 21).

A total of 50 vehicles and 70 individuals were inspected during the operation codenamed "Ops Mabuk" between 10pm and midnight on Saturday, he said.

"We issued 32 summonses on various offences including driving without a valid licence, modifying vehicles and number plates that did not follow permitted specifications.We advise the public not to drive when intoxicated as it could endanger themselves and others," ACP Mohd Azam said.
