KLANG: Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the Opposition's voice becoming louder in the state assembly was not an issue.
He said what mattered was the people's voice, which was even louder.
"So we have to answer them quickly.
"We have to work hard as the people's expectations are also very high," Amirudin told reporters after being sworn in as the Selangor Mentri Besar for a second term.
Amirudin also confirmed that Barisan Nasional has been given a place in the 10-member exco line-up.
"As a partner, we have to combine and the unity combination has managed to pass the first hurdle, which is the state election," Amirudin said.
He added that although the current state government failed to get a two-thirds majority, it still had a majority of 12 elected representatives in the house.
On the delay in his appointment as the mentri besar, Amirudin said it was because Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah was away in London and returned home three days after the election.
"It was a Tuesday when His Highness returned and the Prime Minister sent in a letter with three names, including mine, to be selected as mentri besar," said Amirudin.
He said it was confirmed on Thursday (Aug 17) that he would be the mentri besar.
Amirudin's 10-member exco will be sworn in later today.
