Wife of Penang Umno liaison committee chairman passes away

BUKIT MERTAJAM: Datin Maznah Salleh, the wife of Penang Umno liaison committee chairman Datuk Musa Sheikh Fadzir, died on Sunday (Aug 20) at a private medical centre in Seberang Jaya. She was 70.

Musa said his wife died at about 7.40pm while receiving treatment at the private hospital due to stroke.

"She had suffered a stroke earlier and was undergoing treatment, including physiotherapy. She complained of chest pain before I took her to the hospital for treatment.

"Her remains were brought to our home (in Permatang Pauh) last night before being taken to Islahiyah Mosque in Tawar (Kedah) for funeral prayers and burial at around 9am today. Tawar is my hometown,” he said when contacted Monday (Aug 21).

He described his late wife as a kind and loving person, and redha (accept with an open heart) her death.

He thanked all those who paid their last respects to his late wife, offered their condolences to the family and prayed for the deceased.

Musa and his wife have two sons and a daughter.

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister I Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi expressed his condolences to Musa on the passing of his wife.

In a Facebook post, Ahmad Zahid, who is also Umno president, also prayed that her soul would be placed among the righteous.
