Pile-up: 26-year-old woman killed in multiple-vehicle collision at Jalan Lintas in KK


KOTA KINABALU: A 26-year-old woman was killed during a pile-up accident involving seven vehicles at a Jalan Lintas section here on Tuesday (Aug 22).

Her body was extracted from a Perodua Bezza by firefighters, before she was declared dead on scene by the medical officer.

The Fire and Rescue Department earlier received the report at 6.06pm of the multi-vehicle collision along the road at Lintas Square area.

"There were two lorries and five cars involved (Perodua Bezza, Perodua Myvi, Toyota Vios, Proton Saga, Proton Iriz).

"The remains of the victim have been handed over to the police for further actions, and the operation ended at 7.56pm," the Department spokesman added.

Meanwhile in a separate case in Ranau, a tree fell on three cars at a primary school area there and damaged the top of the vehicles.

However, the nine victims in the three cars escaped unhurt, said the Department spokesman.

"The report came in at 5.56pm about the incident involving a Perodua Kancil, a Proton Saga and Perodua Axia at Sekolah Kebangsaan Pekan 1, Ranau.

"The team sent to the location cleared the debris using chainsaw and moved them to a safe location. The operation ended at 7.18pm," said the spokesman.
