PETALING JAYA: Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has been criticised for swatting a young woman's head with a stack of folded papers after she approached him for aid last Saturday (Aug 19).

Wanita PKR central communications director Noraini Nordin who called on Sanusi to apologise for his behaviour, said that the act was wrong, impolite and disrespectful to the dignity of women.

She said the woman and her family would have suffered embarrassment as Sanusi had committed the act in a public place.

Noraini said as a Menteri Besar, Sanusi's actions were inappropriate and revealed his crude leadership when dealing in official matters with the public especially women.

"To defend the dignity of women, we at Wanita PKR urge all women in the country to voice out their objections to Sanusi's actions," she said.

Muda deputy president Amira Aisya Abd Aziz also echoed Noraini's comments calling Sanusi's antics as rude.

She said Sanusi should watch his manners when he made jokes with the public and not play it down as banter.

In response to his critics, the Jeneri assemblyman said he was merely joking with the young female student when he chided her for seeking assistance from him at the eleventh hour.

"This is how we joke in this village. She was enrolling into polytechnic the next day. I only hit her with a piece of paper and not a piece of wood," he was quoted saying.

An 18-second video of Sanusi swatting the female student on Saturday was circulated in social media platforms.
