Umno Youth seeking voters' views on BN's performance in state polls

MELAKA: Umno Youth will be seeking views from voters on why Barisan Nasional performed poorly in the recent six state elections.

The wing's chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh said the survey forms will be available on various online platforms by Wednesday (Aug 23) to garner the feedback from voters as well as other Malaysians.

"We want insights why Barisan was rejected by some voters and how we can improve to regain the trust of the people," he said after launching the mini carnival to strengthen the rural folks at Bistari Mini Stadium at Ayer Keroh here on Tuesday (Aug 22).

"We have no intention to find fault with leaders but the survey will determine the areas to focus on and make the necessary changes to remain relevant," he said.

The Merlimau assemblyman said that it was also normal for any political party in any election to conduct a post-mortem to get to the bottom of why it performed badly.

Barisan lost all the seats it contested in Terengganu and Kedah.

The coalition only won two seats in Penang and Selangor and one in Kelantan.

However, the coalition did well in Negri Sembilan and won 14 of the 17 seats it contested.
