Sanusi need not apologise for ‘swatting’ incident, says student’s mother

PETALING JAYA: Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor need not apologise for the “swatting” incident involving a young student, says TikTok user @MCSyalwa.

The woman, believed to be the mother of the student involved, said the family is fine with the incident where Sanusi tapped the young woman's head with a stack of folded papers after she approached him, adding that “it was all done in jest and shouldn't be an issue.”

"We were just joking and it shouldn't be an issue. Don't sensationalise the story as we as parents and our daughter herself have no issue with it. The Mentri Besar was good with us despite being tired from riding his bicycle," she said in a TikTok post.

An 18-second video of Sanusi swatting the female student on Saturday (Aug 19) was circulated in social media platforms.

Wanita PKR central communications director Noraini Nordin had urged Sanusi to apologise for his action as it was demeaning and humiliating to the girl.

In response to his critics, the Jeneri assemblyman said he was merely joking with the young female student when he chided her for seeking assistance from him at the eleventh hour.

"This is how we joke in this village. She was enrolling into polytechnic the next day. I only hit her with a piece of paper and not a piece of wood," he was quoted saying.
