KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the people of India for the successful landing of Indian spacecraft Chandrayaan-3 on the southern polar region of the moon on Wednesday (Aug 23).

In a Facebook post on Thursday (Aug 24), the Malaysian Prime Minister said Malaysia also took pride in the unprecedented landing, describing it as a success for Asia too.

"India has now conquered the moon, and I regard it as a success not only for India but also Asia and all its citizens.

"Malaysia also takes pride in this feat, and this is clearly 'The Asian Century'. Congratulations, India!" he said.

India made history by becoming the first country to touch down on the little-explored south pole region of the moon.

The Chandrayaan-3 mission to the moon was launched on July 14.- Bernama
