EC: Pelangai by-election set for Oct 7


PUTRAJAYA: The Election Commission (EC) has set the dates for the Pelangai by-election, with Nomination Day falling on Sept 23 and polling day on Oct 7.

Early voting has been fixed for Oct 3.

The dates were announced by EC chairman Tan Sri Abdul Ghani Salleh on Thursday (Aug 24).

There are 16,456 registered voters in Pelangai.

The seat, a state constituency in Pahang, fell vacant following the death of its assemblyman Datuk Johari Harun on Aug 17.

The Pahang exco member was among 10 people who perished in a plane crash in Selangor.

Johari and seven other people were on board the light aircraft when it crashed at about 2.40pm.

He was 53.

Two other victims were an ehailing driver and food delivery rider who were on the road when the plane crashed.
