Fire and Rescue free 11-year-old boys leg from drain cover in PJ


SUBANG JAYA: Fire and Rescue Department personnel were called to the scene after a boy got his leg stuck in a drain grating at Taman Sri Subang.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said they received a distress call about the incident at around 3.56pm on Thursday (Aug 24).

"We dispatched a fire engine and seven personnel from the Subang Fire Station to the scene.

"They arrived and found that an 11-year-old boy got his left leg stuck in a drain grating along Jalan PJS 10/11," he said when contacted on Thursday.

He said they managed to get the boy out and found that he suffered a huge gash on his shin from the incident.

"He was handed over to medics at the scene for medical treatment," he said.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Mukhlis said his personnel also responded to an accident at Jalan Hulu Langat, Batu 14 at around 4.05pm.

"A lorry driver in his 50's was pinned in the truck after crashing into a tree.

"Two fire engines and 14 personnel were deployed to the scene and managed to extricate the victim from the truck," he said adding that the victim was handed over to medics for further treatment.
