Lorry driver dies in crash near Kota Tinggi


KOTA TINGGI: A lorry driver was killed on the spot while his attendant suffered minor injuries when their vehicle skidded and crashed on Jalan Utama in Kampung Mawai near here.

The Johor Fire and Rescue Department Operations Centre said an emergency call was received at 12.33pm on Thursday (Aug 24).

"The victim was trapped in his seat while the attendant managed to crawl out from the lorry before our arrival," Kota Tinggi fire station chief Shawaluddin Ami Nordin said in a statement.

He said six firemen from the station were deployed to the scene with a fire rapid tender (FRT) vehicle and an emergency medical response services (EMRS) vehicle.

Shawaluddin said the victim was pronounced dead by a medical officer from the Health Ministry at the scene.
