No need for Umno EGM, a detailed post-mortem will do, Puad tells Ku Li

PETALING JAYA: Umno does not need an extraordinary general meeting to discuss fresh party polls, says supreme council member Datuk Mohd Puad Zarkashi.

He said the party polls had been settled as of March 18, involving positions from branch level up to the vice presidents' posts.

“There are already fresh faces in the VP posts and at the division chief level.

“There’s no need for an EGM on party polls,” he said on Facebook on Thursday (Aug 24).

Mohd Puad said it would be better for Umno to do a detailed post-mortem at every level, as this would be more focused.

Umno veteran Tengku Razaleigh had said earlier that the party needed to conduct fresh internal elections as the only way to rejuvenate itself following its poor performance in the recent six state polls.

The party won just 19 out of the 108 seats it contested in Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, Selangor, Penang and Negri Sembilan on Aug 12.
