Not right to promote a political party using govt funds, says Perak MCA Youth

IPOH: It is not morally right to use government funds to promote one's party, says Perak MCA Youth chief Daniel Wa.

This was because the funds came from taxpayers and did not belong to any political party, he added.

"I think this is common sense. Government allocations should not have any party logos" he said when contacted on Thursday (Aug 24).

Local Government Development Minister Nga Kor Ming had on Wednesday (Aug 23) dismissed recent criticism over DAP’s logo appearing on mock cheques for school donations as not being an issue.

He said it did not matter as long as the schools received the funds.

The issue started on Saturday (Aug 19) after Nga was seen in several photographs handing over mock cheques bearing the logos of his party, Pakatan Harapan, Malaysia Madani and Malaysia’s coat of arms.

It was reported that 17 Chinese primary and secondary schools in Perak were granted an allocation of RM1.8mil by the Education Ministry.

Wa said Nga, who had often called for a "New Malaysia", should walk the talk.

"They have always called for a New Malaysia and to uphold the spirit of Malaysia Madani.

"If he is doing this, what has changed? I hope he won't do it again," he added.
