Man nabbed, 5,000 litres of subsidised diesel seized in JB


JOHOR BARU: Police have arrested a 42-year-old man and seized 5,000 litres of subsidised diesel worth RM12,900 during a raid here.

Johor police chief Comm Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat said the General Operations Force (GOF) Battalion 5 Sungai Kores was conducting surveillance when they spotted a lorry.

“The team had gone to an industrial area in Seri Purnama here where they saw a lorry in a suspicious condition on Aug 25 at 5.15am. They then approached the vehicle and managed to arrest the suspect," he said.

“Investigations revealed that the man is believed to have been involved in buying subsidised diesel from nearby petrol stations,” added Comm Kamarul Zaman in a statement on Sunday (Aug 27).

The man also has a prior record involving gambling, he added.

The GOF team confiscated various types of hoses, diesel engines, pumps, empty containers, and one static tank containing diesel oil worth RM12,900, he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 21 of the Control of Supplies Act 1961 for having controlled goods and intending to commit an offence with the items, as well as not having a valid licence.
