Sudden passing of Selangor MCA chairman Ng Chok Sin a shock to all in the party, says Dr Wee

PETALING JAYA: The sudden passing of Selangor MCA chairman Datuk Ng Chok Sin was unexpected, says MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

"Devastated to receive the sad news of the passing of Selangor MCA chairman Datuk Ng Chok Sin. His sudden death is a shock to all party comrades.

"I appointed Chok Sin to be the Selangor MCA chairman when I became the party president in 2018. He took up the responsibility to lead the leaders in the state and continue to protect the people’s interests," he said on his Facebook page on Sunday (Aug 27).

He added that Chok Sin had previously also served as Selangor MCA secretary, MCA central committee member, MCA Youth deputy secretary and Selangor MCA Youth treasurer-general.

Chok Sin also represented Barisan Nasional in Sungai Pelek in the 2013 and 2018 general elections.

"He was with the party through many ups and downs. I would like to convey my appreciation to Chok Sin for all his sacrifices and contributions.

"May he rest in peace," he said.

Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak also offered his condolences to Ng's family.

"He was a person who was committed to Barisan Nasional's cause, popular and friendly.

"I hope his family find the strength to cope with this loss," he said on Facebook.
