Selangor MCA chief passes away

KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor MCA chairman Datuk Ng Chok Sin (pic) has passed away at the age of 55.

He was said to have passed out while jogging near his house yesterday.

Party president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong said the passing of Ng was a shock to all in MCA.

“Devastated to receive the sad news. His sudden death is a shock to all party comrades,” he wrote in a post on Facebook.

He said when he was elected the party president in 2018, he appointed Ng to lead Selangor MCA.

“He took up the responsibility to propel Selangor MCA forward and continued to protect the people’s interests,” he added.

Dr Wee said Ng had previously served as Selangor MCA secretary, MCA central committee member, MCA Youth deputy secretary and Selangor MCA Youth treasurer-general.

Ng was also the Barisan Nasional candidate for Sungai Pelek state seat in the 2013 and 2018 general elections, said the Ayer Hitam MP.

“He was with the party through many ups and downs. I would like to convey my appreciation to Chok Sin for all his sacrifices and contributions.

“May he rest in peace,” added Dr Wee.
