Two saved from drowning after boat capsizes off Teluk Batik

IPOH: Two people were brought to shore nearly drowned after the boat they were in capsized at Teluk Batik, in Lumut. According to Perak Fire and Rescue Department officer Mohammad Zamri Awang Long, there were a total of nine people aboard the boat when the incident occurred at 11.15am Monday (Aug 28).

"There were nine individuals, including two crew, on board the boat. When we arrived at the scene, the boat was in a capsized position.

"The male tourist was rescued by the nearby public while the female tourist is still receiving medical assistance including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) at the site," he said.

The condition of the other seven on board the boat could not be confirmed at press time.

All nine passengers and crew were rescued including the male victim who is a disabled man and a woman who was conscious after receiving medical assistance at the site.

Among the victims were two children who were three- and six-years-old.
