Assets of armed forces on display

KUALA LUMPUR: About 50 air assets of the Malaysian Armed Forces and security forces will be involved in the air show during the National Day celebration at Dataran Putrajaya on Thursday.

The show, to be led by the air force, will involve assets of various categories, including Sukhoi Su-30MKM fighter jets, F/A-18D Hornet and BAE Hawk aircraft, and A400M and C130 Hercules transport aircraft, as well as helicopters from the army and navy.

There will also be aerial assets from the police, the Fire and Rescue Department, and the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency.

The event that is expected to steal the spotlight during the air show is a segment involving 25 helicopters doing a formation, as well as some thrilling stunts.

The Army’s Western Field Command Headquarters told Bernama that as many as 178 assets, including the Vamtac S3 Weapons Carrier Vehicle, the 8x8 Gempita AFV 30mm Armoured Personnel Carrrier, the ACV 300 Adnan IFV 12.7mm tank and the PT 91 Pendekar tank will be involved in the parade.

Among the assets expected to draw attention are the Astros II Multiple Launch Rocket System, Field Hospital, the Pontoon Tactical Bridge Vehicle – Standard Module, and the Tactical Mobility Support System vehicles.

The navy will be displaying two Missile Trailers and a Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat, while the air force will display three Missile Trailers.

The armed forces’ contingent is the largest in the parade this National Day, which is themed “Malaysia Madani: Tekad Perpaduan Penuhi Harapan”.
