Cops investigating Facebook user for post that allegedly insults Selangor Ruler

KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman is investigating a Facebook user named "Iman Mustaqim" over a post with a tendency to incite insult or disloyalty to Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.

Bukit Aman CID director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said the department's Special Investigation Unit (USJT) is investigating the alleged offence under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948.

"We are also investigating the case under Section 233 of the Communication and Multimedia Act 1998. The Facebook uploaded the post on Monday (Aug 28)," he said in a statement.

Comm Mohd Shuhaily reminded the public not to speculate on the matter or share wrong information that could disrupt the investigation.

"We are urging the public to be responsible social media users. Refrain from issuing comments on race, religion and royalty (3R), that could disrupt peace and harmony," he said.
