PETALING JAYA: The late Datuk Ng Chok Sin was a nice person and tireless party leader whose passing is a great loss to society, said MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.
The Selangor MCA chief had contributed much to society and helped to unite members amid challenges from other parties, he added.
“Ng’s death is a great loss to the party, and his contributions to society and the party will be remembered forever,” Dr Wee told reporters after paying his last respects to Ng in Kampung Baru Sungai Pelek, Sepang, yesterday.
Dr Wee also noted that the large crowd at Ng’s wake showed the close ties he had shared with many leaders.
“He was close to all of us and a very nice guy, as many have described him.
“He was always working for the party and a man of dignity and accountability,” he added.
Dr Wee also said he and several other MCA leaders had fond memories of Ng and his favourite dish – “sang yuk mee” (pork noodle) – in Sungai Pelek.
“When MCA leaders were in Sepang, they would come to this restaurant recommended by Ng.
“So just now, while we were having lunch at that restaurant, we decided to take away Ng’s favourite dish for him because it reminded us of him,” he said.
MCA secretary-general Datuk Chong Sin Woon, who was also present at the wake to pay his last respects, said the MCA flag will be draped across Ng’s casket – the highest respect accorded by the party – for his funeral at noon tomorrow.
The draping of the coffin will be led by Dr Wee, two party vice-presidents, the MCA Youth chief, the Selangor MCA deputy chairman and secretariat members.
Ng, 55, a local from Sungai Pelek, passed away on Sunday. He leaves behind his wife and four children.
Ng was appointed Selangor MCA chief in 2018. He had served as the Selangor MCA secretary, party central committee member, party youth deputy secretary and Selangor MCA Youth treasurer-general.
Ng also represented Barisan Nasional in Sungai Pelek in the 2013 and 2018 general elections.
