MUAR: Umno supporters should throw their support behind Pakatan Harapan in the Pulai and Simpang Jeram by-elections instead of the party that wants to replace them, says Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.
The Umno vice-president said that there were still some party supporters and voters who were unaware that Barisan Nasional was not contesting in the two by-elections.
"We accept the fact that there are Barisan and Umno voters who will be looking for our logo.
"They need to think about who to vote for as Barisan is not contesting this time around. As such, our election machinery needs to work hard to explain to them that we are supporting Pakatan.
"We need to explain the reality to them and have them vote for the candidates we support instead of those from parties that are trying to replace Umno," he said in a press conference after meeting with Barisan election machinery here on Thursday (Aug 31).
"So far, those we have met understand the situation and have given their word that they will vote for the candidates that Barisan support in Pulai and Simpang Jeram," said Khaled.
