Ampang cops seize eight motorcycles in Merdeka eve traffic, crime ops


KUALA LUMPUR: Police in Ampang Jaya seized eight motorcycles following a Merdeka eve traffic operation here on Wednesday (Aug 30).

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Azam Ismail, in a statement Friday (Sept 1), said that a special crime prevention operation was conducted from 9pm on Wednesday to 12.30am on Thursday (Aug 31).

A traffic operation against "road menaces" was also conducted until 2.30am.

"As a result of both operations, eight motorcycles were confiscated and brought back to Ampang Jaya police headquarters for documentation purposes. The owners will also be called in.

"A total of 55 summonses were also issued for various traffic offences including driving without valid licences and number plate violations," he said.

The operations were conducted within the Taman Kencana area, as well as along Jalan Ampang, Jalan Putra and the Sungai Besi-Ulu Kelang Elevated Highway (SUKE).

He added that traffic enforcement operations will be conducted from time to time to ensure road users comply with the law.
