Organisers target RM4mil in retail sales as three-day M'sia Halal Expo kicks off

SERI KEMBANGAN: The Malaysia halal industry is set to empower more local businesses and ensure their participation in the global market.

With the Malaysia Halal Expo (MHE) 2023 opening its doors Friday (Sept 1) till Sunday (Sept 3), consumers are welcome to experience the world of halal products, while local business owners are encouraged to grab any opportunity available.

Themed “Empowering Local for Global Sustainability”, MHE2023 will focus on the skills and potential of local halal businesses, and the products and services they offer.

This year, the expo features 123 companies and organisations comprising both Muslim and non-Muslim exhibitors showcasing a wide range of halal products from food and beverages, education, cosmetic, e-commerce, pharmaceutical, tourism, banking and finance, as well as fashion.

Selangor Domestic Trade and Cost of Living director Mohd Zuhairi Mat Radey, who gave a speech on behalf of Deputy Minister Senator Fuziah Salleh, said MHE2023 is an inspiration to all local business owners to expand their venture to the global market.

“There are more than 40 business delegations from Indonesia, Myanmar, the Philippines and Vietnam present today.

“We are setting a retail sales target for this expo at RM4mil and this will open up the opportunity for more business ventures (between locals and) the delegates from abroad,” he said when opening the MHE2023 at the Mines International Exhibition and Convention Centre here.

The MHE2023 exhibition is open to the public from noon to midnight from Sept 1 to Sept 3.

The exhibition features various types of booths and activities from cooking demo to make up contest, latte art demo, giant inflatable playground and a petting zoo.

Among well-known brands that took part in the exhibition includes Mustika Ratu, Subway, DPIM, Public Bank, Affin Bank, and Air Selangor, among others.
