Pulai polls: Nation needs multiracial focus to realise full potential, says Khaled

JOHOR BARU: Malaysia will not be able to reach its maximum potential if it is only focused on one race, says Umno vice president Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.

"After 66 years of independence, a new approach is needed for Malaysia to develop and progress," he added.

The Higher Education Minister, who is also Johor Umno chairman, said that the unity government had a suitable and accurate formula to achieve this.

"We have to accept the fact that Malaysia is a multiracial country. It is our responsibility to ensure that unity and consensus among races is strengthened and maintained," he said in a Facebook post on Friday (Sept 1).

Mohamed Khaled added that every country needs time to make changes but with dedication and determination, this present government has succeeded in creating a Madani economic framework.

He also said a clearer and deeper explanation of the unity government's policies and direction should be given to Umno members and voters.

"We need to manage perceptions well against the false narrative that the Opposition is trying to create.

"When they (voters) are clear and understand, with God's permission, our candidate Suhaizan Kayat will be elected as Pulai MP next Saturday (Sept 9).
