Indonesian couple killed in Taman Megah house fire


KAJANG: An Indonesian couple were killed in a fire at their double storey home in Taman Megah here.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Wan Md Razali Wan Ismail said a team of firemen were deployed to the scene once the distress call was received at 2.13am on Saturday (Sept 2).

He said that electrical appliances located beneath the stairs of the house were on fire and added that 3% of the house's lower floor was destroyed.

"An Indonesian man in his 50s and his wife in her 40s suffered burns and suffocated due to the smoke. There was another male victim who suffered some injuries but survived," he said in a statement.

"We are investigating further to discover the cause of the fire," added Wan Md Razali.
