PETALING JAYA: Muda deputy president Amira Aisya Abd Aziz was blacklisted as her earlier organisation - Persatuan Ekonomi Merdeka - was de-registered by the Registrar of Societies (ROS).

It said the association was de-registered through a notice which was issued under Section 13(1)(c)(iv) on Oct 28, 2022 by the Registrar, which binds Amira Aisya under Section 49 of the same Act.

ROS added that this action was in-line with all the investigative processes and the law under the powers invested in the Societies Act of 1966 (Act 832).

"As such the statement by Amira Aisya that she is blacklisted from holding office in any registered organisation is not entirely true," said the ROS in a statement on Saturday (Sept 2).

On Friday (Sept 1) the High Court allowed Amira Aisya's application to challenge the ROS blacklisting her from holding any position in registered societies.

She is seeking a court order to declare that the ROS does not have the power under the Societies Act 1966 to blacklist her.
