No qualms working with BN, people the top priority, says Melaka DAP rep

MELAKA: Once foes, now friends for the sake of the rakyat, says a Melaka DAP exco member in reference to the present unity state government.

State entrepreneur, cooperative development and consumer affairs committee chairman Allex Seah Shoo Chin said he has no qualms about working together with Barisan Nasional to ensure a solid administration of the state.

"In the end, we need a strong and stable state government that can benefit the people," he said in his speech during the annual dinner of Bertam Ulu Chungsan Welfare and Sports Association at a restaurant in Taman Teknologi Cheng here on Saturday (Sept 2) night.

The event was also attended by Melaka housing and local government, climate change and disaster management committee chairman Datuk Rais Yasin.

Seah said it was crucial for the current leadership to resolve any issues affecting the grassroots by putting aside any differences.

"Hence, we bury the hatchet for the sake of the people and development of the state.

"Now Datuk (Rais) and I can sit at the same table and discuss on resolving issues," he said, adding that such cooperation reflected the strength of the Madani government.

Seah, who is Kesidang assemblyman, took his oath as a state exco on April 5 under the leadership of Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh to form the unity state government.

Meanwhile, Rais in his speech, pledged to allocate land for the association to build a clubhouse.

He also thanked the organiser of the event for inviting him.

"I made sure that I attended the dinner despite having to be present in support of the Johor twin by-elections," he said.

Four vernacular schools also received financial aid during the event.
