Komtar flooded as rain pours over city

GEORGE TOWN: A flash flood has hit Komtar and the surrounding areas following a heavy downpour over the city and its surroundings.

In videos and images shared by Komtar assemblyman Teh Lai Heng, several areas in Komtar and the surrounding areas are flooded to ankle-deep levels

There is also a photo of a python measuring about three metres long being handled by officials on a road below Komtar.

Pengkalan Kota assemblyman Wong Yuee Harng said traders at the Cecil Street market also complained of gutters on the roof overflowing and causing water to leak into the building.

The rain had started at about 11am and was still pouring at press time.
