KOTA KINABALU: Award-winning English teacher Dr Sirhajwan Idek (pic) has bagged another title at an Asean event.
The teacher from the Keningau Vocational College in interior Sabah was presented the Youth Achievement Record by Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Adam Adli at the Asean Future Generation Business Forum on Saturday.
The forum was a side event of the Asean Summit, which commences today in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Presented for the first time by GenYouth, a South-East Asian youth association, the award aims to celebrate the achievements and contributions of youths in the region.
Sirhajwan was among eight recipients honoured at the event.
He was recognised for being the first Asian to win the International Innovation and Entrepreneurship Excellence in Teaching Award in Paris, France, in 2017.

On Sept 22 that year, Sirhajwan defeated seven other finalists from Russia, the United States, Britain, Germany, Canada, Denmark and Colombia to win the award at the European Conference on Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
Sirhajwan said the award dignifies the teaching profession, and he encouraged youngsters to consider pursuing the career.
