MCA, Insap to submit Budget 2024 recommendations to Finance Minister


PETALING JAYA: MCA will submit recommendations for Budget 2024 to the Finance Minister soon, which will cover issues such as the economy.

The recommendations were the culmination of discussions held during the Budget 2024 Stakeholders Roundtable Discussion organised by the Institute for Strategic Analysis & Policy Research (Insap) on Wednesday (Sept 6).

MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong said MCA and Insap would compile and hand over the outcome of the discussions would be to Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is also Prime Minister.

"MCA and Insap organises stakeholder engagements like this annually to draw attention to economic issues that need to be addressed and to appeal for government measures and intervention through the national budget.

"MCA takes note of the concerns raised by industry and interest groups over the past few months with regards to our country's economy and the challenges ahead.

"MCA will continue to be the conscience of this government and provide honest, direct, and pragmatic check-and-balance to the administration in the rakyat's interests," said Dr Wee in a Facebook post on Wednesday (Sept 6).

He added that present during the roundtable discussion were representatives from various industry groups, Chinese associations, universities and NGOs.

Also present were MCA secretary-general Datuk Chong Sin Woon, vice-president and Insap chairman Datuk Seri Ti Lian Ker, Youth chief Datuk Nicole Wong, deputy secretary-general and Insap deputy chairman Datuk Dr Pamela Yong, publicity bureau chief Chan Quin Er, Koperasi Jayadiri Malaysia Berhad (Kojadi) chairman and MCA central committee member Senator Datuk Koh Nai Kwong, MCA central committee members Tee Hooi Ling, who is also Wanita Deputy Chief, Lawrence Chiew, Datuk Daniel Ling, Chua Hock Kuan and Insap Deputy Chairman Jacob Lee.
