No new special approvals being given under Workforce Recalibration Programme, says Immigration Dept

KUALA LUMPUR: A fake message is being circulated claiming that special approvals are being given to illegal immigrants under the Workforce Recalibration Programme (RTK 2.0), says the Immigration Department.

In a statement on Wednesday (Sept 6), Immigration director-general Datuk Ruslin Jusoh said they were aware of the voice recording claiming that those who became illegal immigrants (by overstaying, for example) after Dec 31, 2022 would be issued special approval under RTK 2.0.

"The recording claims special approval will be given only to 5,000 applicants.

"Immigration vehemently denies this and requests the public not to be deceived by fraudulent tactics of agents or middlemen," he said.

He added that Immigration would never implement this because it violates the policy set by the government during the launch of the RTK 2.0 programme on Jan 27, 2023.

"The policy is clear – only foreigners who become illegals until Dec 31, 2022 are eligible and will be considered for RTK 2.0 approval.

"The public is advised not to spread unauthentic information that may cause confusion and anxiety among the community," he said, urging the public to visit Immigration's official portal and official social media accounts to get accurate and up-to-date information.
