Pulai constituents had already decided their vote before Zahid's DNAA, says Nur Jazlan

JOHOR BARU: Pulai constituents had already decided who they would vote for before Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was granted a discharge not amounting to an acquittal (DNAA), says Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed.

He said similar to Lim Guan Eng's acquittal over corruption charges in 2018, Ahmad Zahid's DNAA would not affect Chinese votes for Pakatan Harapan's Pulai candidate Suhaizan Kayat.

"From my observation, after Lim was first charged until the AGC dropped his case, I saw that the Chinese vote for Pakatan, especially DAP, did not decrease but increased remarkably in the 15th General Election (GE15)," said the Umno supreme council member and Pulai Umno chief.

He was commenting on DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke's statement asking the Attorney General to explain why Ahmad Zahid was granted a DNAA at the public prosecutor's request.

Nur Jazlan said Loke should not be concerned if the DNAA on Ahmad Zahid will affect the votes for Suhaizan.

"I have already accepted the fact that his (Ahmad Zahid's) image has long been damaged by the Opposition's narrative, including Pakatan since Umno and Barisan Nasional lost in GE14.

"After all, I believe the voters in Pulai already made their decision before the High Court's decision on the Zahid case appeared last Monday," he said.

"Now, Loke has to work harder to ensure that Chinese voters in Pulai come out in large numbers for Suhaizan to win. So, come on, Loke, deploy the DAP machinery to attract Chinese voters to vote," said Nur Jazlan.
